I looked at my screen time last week and I realised, my head is down more than it's up.
I realised I'm not running my business, I am performing for an algorithm. If you’ve spent any time in the online business world lately, you will know exactly what I am talking about.
The previous week, I had a post go viral. 1.2 million views. 200,000 engagements. It was my first "viral" post after about eight years online and guess what it did? Absolutely nothing.
No extra customers, no extra sales... just a load of people arguing about what I had said. Oh, and £126 from Facebook. I’m not complaining about being paid, but if the cost is posting things just for people to argue about, I am not down with that. While I enjoyed hearing how others were affected by the post, the realisation of it all was a bit much.
You’re told to "show up" every day. You’re told to post three reels, five stories, and an inspirational quote before breakfast. You’re told that if you aren't "engaging" for four hours a day, you aren't working.
I’m calling time on it all.
I didn't start an online business to become a full-time content creator. I started it to have more time for the things that actually matter, home-edding my two youngest babies and being present in life without a phone glued to my hand..
I realised last week that I have been swept up in it all. Trying to create "perfect" content that I don't even enjoy. Refreshing every 20 minutes to answer comments as fast as possible so the algorithm stays in my favour.
Comparing myself to others and feeling deflated if I don't get the engagement. And the worst part? None of that actually affects the bank balance.
It’s exhausting. It’s not scalable. And quite frankly, it’s a job you can't quit because the second you stop posting, the business stops growing.
That’s why I’m pivoting. I’m moving Beyond the Feed.
I’ve spent the last few days, and quite a few technical headaches involving DNS records and server chaos, creating something different. I’m building Frameworks.
Instead of chasing people in their DMs, I’m building automated systems. Instead of fighting for attention on a fast-moving, ever-changing social feed, I’m creating search-based content that lives forever. The goal is simple: Systems Over Selfies. I want a business that works while I’m teaching my kids or out for a walk.
A system is only as useful as the product it delivers. When I looked for a "vehicle" to plug into this automated engine, I needed a partner that was professional, reliable, and genuine. I chose to partner with Farmasi UK 12 months ago. I genuinely love the products and the opportunity, but I definitely don't want to spend my day doing "makeup tutorials" or "day in the life" reels. I don't want every waking minute spent with a camera in my face. I want to have my head up, not down, and experience life rather than see it through a screen.
The products are excellent in quality and price, the European standards are top-tier, and the infrastructure allows me to build a global company from home, which is exactly what I want.
What to Expect from Here
I’m not here to show you a polished "six-figure" screenshot from a beach because I'm not there (yet). But I am going to document what I am doing and how it’s working (and not working) while building this differently. I will still be sharing content on social media, but in a way that doesn't mean being glued to my phone 24/7.
Under The Logistics: I’ll be sharing the raw reality of building this business, the product reviews, and the numbers.
Under Frameworks: I’ll show you the tech I’m using to keep the lights on while I’m away from my desk.
Under Unplugged: I’ll share what this time-freedom actually looks like in my daily life with home-ed and real life.
I don’t have all the answers yet, but I do have the desire and the hunger to make this work, not just for me, but for my team too.
If you’re tired of the scroll and ready for a system, I’d love for you to follow along. You can join The Beyond the Feed Dispatch below to get my honest updates sent straight to your inbox, no algorithm required.
